Introduction by participants

Halima:

"The first three meetings were run by the 3 Faith Forum’s Debbie and Sana and they came to meet us in our own places of worship to meet and get to know us as a group of Jewish, Christian and Islamic young people. We had an opportunity to ask questions about the two other faiths that we were going to work with for the next few months."

Dani:

"One way in which we got to know each other better and neighboring faiths was to look at our festivals, why we celebrate them and what they mean to us as young people of faith.

In the first few sessions we got to know each other and spend some time looking at our sacred scriptures. We looked at what our scriptures tell us about forgiveness and it became clear that as the three Abrahamic faiths we have a great deal in common. We also spent some time looking at where religions have had conflicts in the past, we looked our similarities and where prejudice between the faiths arises."

Morgan:

"We were all asked at the beginning of the project why we wanted to do this. Some of us wanted to learn more about our own religious traditions and others, to see where what we hold in common and what is different. Some of us just enjoyed meeting new friends.

We have different beliefs but the same goal – to live in peace

This project has given us an opportunity to see first hand what is vital and central to our faith.

This project has given us an opportunity to go more in depth, to learn things that we were not learning in our school studies on religion."

Halima:

You are now going to see the results of our work together as young people from the Abrahamic faiths. The first is a photographic project and the second is a music project. Both were supported by Gabrielle and Richard from Polygon arts.
