Three Faiths Forum Participates in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos, Switzerland

Mark Ebert, Executive Director of the Three Faiths Forum, participated as a member of the Faith Community of the World Economic Forum at its Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos, Switzerland.  Mr. Ebert was either on a panel or spoke at the following sessions in Davos:

Shaping Values in a Post-Crisis World – As a businessman and religious leader, Mr. Ebert contributed to a list of values which will become the basis for proposals on a Code of Conduct for Financial Institutions.

Faith & Youth, What Will Tomorrow’s Leaders Believe In?  - Mr. Ebert was a panel member and presented the Three Faith Forum’s initiatives in promoting peaceful co-existence of faith and culture groups in Europe.

New Catalysts for Interfaith Dialogue – The use of software, websites and social networking to promote interfaith dialogue was discussed, as were the dangers of hate sites on the internet

The Global Education Initiative – Mr. Ebert reported on the activities of the Three Faiths Forum’s Youth and Education departments.

In addition, Mr. Ebert joined the other 19 members of the Faith Community in crafting a Joint Statement calling for Middle East peace.  This was read by Prof. Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the WEF to the plenary session entitled Gaza: The Case for Middle East Peace, and the next day issued as a press release at a press conference

Mr. Ebert’s presence at the Annual Meeting continues a long tradition of the Three Faiths Forum’s involvement as a member of the WEF Faith Community, of which Sir Sigmund Sternberg is one of founders.  As a businessman and faith leader, Mr. Ebert attended numerous economic sessions as well.  He is currently involved in a number of initiatives concerning a new set of values for finance and business, based on the values of faith groups, which is sorely needed if we are to learn from the mistakes which created the current global economic crisis
