| Working with the Three Faiths Forum
By Rayyan Mirza
I first became involved with the Three Faiths Forum when I participated in their Undergraduate ParliaMentors programme last year. As part of a trio of Muslim, Christian and Jewish university students, we were mentored by MP Sadiq Khan. We also worked on a project called Politics Works, where we taught a group of year 10 students in South London how to run their own political campaign and make politicians listen to them. The project culminated in a ceremony at Parliament, where Sadiq agreed to help the students with a campaign they had chosen.
It was a really positive experience that gave me the opportunity to develop a range of skills, and prompted me to remain in touch with the work of the Three Faiths Forum. After graduating earlier this summer, I was delighted to find they had a vacancy for a Project Officer to support their mentoring programmes, including the very one that I had been on. I successfully applied for it, and am now proudly using the insights gained from my time on the ParliaMentors programme, as well as from my degree and other work placements, to provide the next generation of mentoring programme participants with truly rewarding experiences.
