Faith schools link to improve community relations
On 12th January representatives from single and multi-faith schools met for a day of discussion and planning for a school linking project aiming to improve relations between their different faiths and wider communities. The schools will continue to cooperate on a number of projects over the year where children from different cultural backgrounds will work together and get to know each other, creating links between communities which might otherwise not meet and interact.
The Three Faiths Forum's Shared Futures school linking programme responds to the need to improve community cohesion in Britain and involves over 30 Muslim, Christian, Jewish and multi-faith schools. The planning event, held at Pax Lodge in North London, allowed teachers to share their experiences and strengthen ties between their institutions before the start of the term’s projects. It was attended by a Rabbi, Priest and Imam, giving the participants some expert guidance as they discussed the issues of faith and life in a diverse society.
