Now Recruiting

The new decade
By Stephen Shashoua, Three Faiths Forum Director
May I take the opportunity of wishing all of you and your families a happy 2010.
We have ended a decade in which faith relations in the UK have had to contend with events such as 9/11, 7/7, and other harsh challenges to our search for an open, tolerant and peaceful society. Muslim communities have found themselves labelled as a “problem” that needs fixing. Islamophia, anti-semitism and other forms of senseless bigotry have assailed us on all sides.
We must urgently move from a decade that was focused on “us and them” and embrace the “we”. We can only root out extremism, fear, and ignorance if we act together. Talking together is a vital part of the healing process but talk alone without commitment, without action, is ineffective.
We, as a meeting place for vital, involved faith communities, need you. We need your energy, your concern, your urge for justice to help us make positive change. Alone, we will be overwhelmed. Together, we can do it!
To learn more of how you can get involved please do contact us.

2009 in numbers
2009 was a busy year for the Three Faiths Forum. Over the year
- 5800 students participated in our educational programmes in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups.
- 45 new university students and 15 MPs started our Undergraduate ParliaMentors Programme while 27 students and 9 MPs from the 2008-09 programme graduated.
- Over 60 Muslim, Christian, and Jewish volunteers gave over 300 hours of their time to working in schools.
- 30 artists took part in the Culture Strand of our Urban Dialogues programme, and over 200 people attended our arts event Artifice during Interfaith Week.
- Some 70 ambassadors and representatives from different countries attended the Three Faiths Forum Ambassadors meeting hosted by HM Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Charles Grey, with speakers Lord Malloch-Brown and Archbishop Vincent Nichols.
- 22 schools were involved in the Shared Futures linking programme, increasing to 32 schools in 2010.
- Around 1500 people attended Three Faiths Forum events, including Faith in Capitalism: What does faith tell us about responsible investing? and Karen Armstrong's lecture Why Interfaith? at the RSA, and a number of consultation and training events.
In 2010 we are planning on reaching even more people in schools, colleges, universities and other institutions through our programmes, to include more students in our ParliaMentors programme and continue to develop new ways in which people from different communities and faiths can interact, learn from each other and work together.

Thoughts on my internship

The first day of my internship was not a normal first day, I was taken to an event at St. James's Palace organised by the Three Faiths Forum and the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps. Ambassadors from various embassies in London, Lord Malloch-Brown and the Archbishop of Westminster were invited. >> read more |

Reflections
By Justin Velez
Working at the Three Faiths Forum has been a thoroughly unique experience, not only because it was while I was abroad in London, but because of the exciting and important nature of the work I was doing. Few students have such freedom to choose what they want to work on in a job setting that relate to their own personal interest and career goals. >> read more |

Thank you to our supporters
We would especially like to thank the people and organisations which have stood with us throughout 2009. Without your financial support and commitment to our shared purpose, our work would not be possible.
We have a proud record of achievement over the past year with very limited resources. With more funding, we could reach even more people and run programmes with wider impact. We appeal to all of you who believe in the work we do to support us in any way possible.
