Jazzing it up for Interfaith Week

Intercultural dialogue took on a whole new meaning during Interfaith Week when, over two evenings in a London venue, some 200 guests from a variety of communities enjoyed music and art provided by artists from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

The event - on the 16th and 17th of November - was made possible through a close collaboration with the Muslim culture organisation the Radical Middle Way, Art and Christianity Enquiry and Jewish group the JCC for London.

"Artifice", one of the Three Faith Forum’s contributions to Interfaith Week, explored new interfaith cultural territory with youthful artists including a performance by an innovative Jewish-Muslim hip hop-klezmer band, Yalla!, whose members were matched through the Forum’s Urban Dialogues initiative.

Stephen Shashoua, Three Faiths Forum Director, said: “We have to go where people already are, by working through and with single faith organisations on high-quality events.  Through Artifice, we are developing relations between young professionals of the three communities who are not usually involved in inter-communal activity. ”
