February
Open floor story-sharing in the Tent @ St Ethelburga’s: Heroes of Old
Wed 10th Feb 7pm
A friendly evening of stories on the theme of heroes…. come and listen or come and share a tale about your favourite heroes - ancient or contemporary.
How do we see the characters whose lives are described in the Torah, the Bible, the Qu’ran and other faith scriptures? Were they flawless heroes or perfect saints, who effortlessly made the right choices? Or were they human beings who sinned and struggled to overcome challenges like the rest of us?
Rachel Rose Reid will kick off with thought-provoking tales of Hebrew women. Hosted by Mike Forbes and the Society for Storytelling Special Interest Group in Faith and Religion.
Anyone with a story to share, involving heroes should also email St Ethelburgas.
£5 (£3 concessions / children). Please book in advance.
To book online: http://www.stethelburgas.org
Or call with credit card, or post cheque made out to St Ethelburga’s.

National Student Interfaith Forum
Sunday 14th February 2010, 10.30am – 4.30pm
St Ethelburga’s Centre for Peace & Reconciliation, London
NUS’s Student Interfaith Project aims to improve the experiences of students of faith at further and higher education by increasing students’ unions awareness of the needs of students of faith through support, information and training; and developing strong inter-faith collaboration between students to enhance campus cohesion by creating space for inter-faith dialogue and activities.
As part of this project NUS is organising the first National Student Interfaith Forum, which will meet six times over the course of the project (October 2009 – September 2011).
Many students and students’ union officers are active in building understanding about different religious communities, and improving relations between different faith groups on campus. The forum will bring these students together to provide the opportunity for them to network; share and develop ideas; gain new skills and knowledge; as well as support the NUS interfaith project develop training and resources for students' unions.
The first National Student Interfaith Forum is taking place on Sunday 14th February, at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in London. The event is free to attend and travel will be organised and paid for by NUS. Please note future Forum events will not all take place in London.
If you organise interfaith activities at your university or students’ union we would like you to apply to participate in the National Student Interfaith Forum. To apply please complete and return the application form by email to Kat Luckock, Student Interfaith Coordinator.
Please note there is an application and selection process to ensure that there are participants from different universities and religious backgrounds. We cannot therefore guarantee that everyone who applies will be able to attend. Early application (before Friday 5th February) is recommended.

Walk for Women
Sunday 14th March
A sponsored walk to:
+ Commemorate International Women’s Day
+ Celebrate mothers around the world on Mothering Sunday
+ Remember the Suffragettes’ Mud March of 1907
+ Fundraise for Project Muso Ladamunen, the Project for the Empowered Woman
This year on Sunday March 14th, Faiths Act Fellows London are organising a sponsored walk to commemorate International Women’s Day and celebrate Mothering Sunday: the Walk for Women. The walk is 10 miles from Kew Green to Embankment Gardens. The end of the walk will take the route of the Mud March which took place on February 7, 1907. It was the first large procession organised by the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies. 3000 women walked through the streets of London from Hyde Park to Exeter Hall (The Strand).
With the theme of empowered women, we will be raising money for Project Muso Ladamunen, the Project for the Empowered Woman. Project Muso partners with mothers in Mali to enable them to free themselves of the poverty-disease trap. Through their Women's Education Program, Springboard Microfinance Program, and Community-Based Malaria Program, Malian women are afforded an opportunity to turn their hopes into real possibilities.
We want you come together in solidarity with the empowered women of Mali whilst raising awareness about the important role women play in the world.
Registration is £10. This is to help us cover the costs of the walk and includes a Walk for Women T-shirt which you will get on the day. We are suggesting you raise a minimum of £100, however if this is too much then please raise what you can. To register, fill out the registration form below and email this to me. Alternatively you can post it to:
Jewish Social Action Hub, Haskell House, 152 West End Lane, London, NW6 1SD.
Once registered, you will receive a sponsorship form and information regarding procedures for the day itself. If you have any other queries do not hesitate to email or call Myriam on 07754 589 340.
